Belltown Restaurants


Tavolàta Belltown is looking forward to hosting a wine dinner with Banfi Vintners on Monday, November 13. The event, put on in coordination with McCarthy & Schiering Wine Merchants, will be held in the mezzanine, with seats for 28 guests.

In the spirit of Tavolàta, all courses will be served family-style at large communal tables. The meal begins at 6:30pm and is $99/person, including tax and service charge—call the restaurant at 206.838.8008 to save your spot.

Special guest Luciano Castiello from Banfi will be on hand at the dinner to present the wines and chat about them as the night goes on—and chef Joel DeBilzan has a hearty fall menu planned. It’s sure to be a lovely night full of great conversation and wonderful food and wine.

Banfi Vintners was founded in 1919 by John Mariani Sr., and is now owned and operated by his grandchildren. Opened in January of 2007 by chef Ethan Stowell, Tavolàta is an urban Italian eatery located at 2323 Second Avenue in Seattle’s bustling Belltown neighborhood. Sublime house made pastas, simple Italian cuisine, and a 30-foot communal table (tavolàta) that runs down the center of the narrow room keeps the crowds coming back. Ever notice the colorful lights in Etta’s Seafood restaurant? And did you know there’s a lunch card deal for us regulars?

Named after the daughter (Loretta) of local restaurateur force-of-nature Tom Douglas and wife/partner Jackie Cross, Etta’s is located a ½ block north of Pike Place Market on Western Avenue. Set against a backdrop of mostly black and brown tones, colorful lights from Kasala (located a few blocks away) illuminate and highlight the interior space of the restaurant. A definite bright spot on an overcast Fall or winter day.

Dining there is also a highlight: all food and most drinks are locally sourced from the Northwest. They even cure and smoke their own meat and seafood, often purchased from Pike Place Market. Fresh vegetables from their farm in Prosser, WA, are prepared and served on their menu during the growing season, which is May through November. Certain menu items shift in a subtle way to match that month’s bounty. Vegetables currently being featured and where they originated from (along with some fun drawings) are sketched on their chalkboard near the front entrance. Below that, Tom’s autographed cookbooks are displayed for sale, and multi-colored, fish-shaped chewy candies invite you to take a spoonful. The True Cod Fish and hand cut Chips accompanied by a unique, good coleslaw, are definitely worth repeating, and the Dungeness crab cakes are excellent.

For those of us who frequently eat lunch here, you can request an Etta’s lunch card, which your wait person or manager will initial at the end of each visit. After purchasing 10 lunches, your 11th one is free. That’s a significant savings, and a good incentive to keep returning.

Seattle Restaurant Week is coming soon, October 15th through November 2nd, in which 165+ local restaurants offer 2-3 course lunches for $18, and 3-course dinners for $33. Etta’s is participating in this event, and you can view their special menu here.



Rob Roy is one of the most iconic, long-standing bars in Belltown. For the holiday season this year, however, it’s turning into something totally new…

Miracle, a holiday pop-up bar from New York’s Greg Boehm, is taking over the Belltown bar from November 24th through Christmas Eve. For that month, Rob Roy will be transformed into “Miracle on 2nd”, with holiday-themed cocktails and custom seasonal glassware.

Check out the cocktails and shots Miracle on 2nd will be serving, over at Eater Seattle! The Bad Santa looks amazing, with mulled red wine, tawny port, orange liqueur, spices and golden raisins, served hot in a winking Santa mug.


Belltown is known for it’s nightlife, so it’s fun when we get a new spot for cocktails and bar bites! We have two new bars in Belltown; Jupiter Bar opens on Thursday, September 14th and Commonwealth opened earlier this month.

Jupiter Bar has taken over an old warehouse for jewelry manufacturing at 2126 2nd Avenue, between Whiskey Bar and Blank Space Cafe near the colorful Belltown Corridor. The classic bar offering of beer and cocktails will be supplemented by a menu that focuses on oven-baked sandwiches. There will be dozens of games including pinball, pool, and arcade. Jupiter will be more than just a bar to augment Belltown’s nightlife – it’s also a gallery showcasing the work of over 18 artists. The grand opening is from 6 p.m. until 2 a.m. this Thursday.

Commonwealth is the latest offering from the folks behind Pintxo, which recently moved locations within the neighborhood. The new bar is located in the Bell Street alley between 3rd and 4th Avenues. Commonwealth is focused on whiskey, with Kentucky-inspired drinks and bites. There are several whiskey cocktails, beer and cider on draft, and a fun Boilermaker list to get more adventurous about your beverage. In the way of food, there’s a distinct Spanish influence from the bar’s older sibling, Pintxo.


Believe it or not, Summer is almost at an end, though we hope the sunshine decides to stay a while! But, it ain’t over till it’s over, as they say, and there’s still lots of fun to be had, especially at the 4th annual Belltown Crush Block Party!
