Seattle’s Urban Garden
A giant carbon-steel flower pot on Seventh Avenue and Union Street, a new piece for the Garden Walk project, is reaching its finals stages of construction. The piece called “Urban Garden” by artist Ginny Ruffner is comprised of a flower pot, holding a variety of flowers including a daisy, bluebells and a tulip. There is also a red watering can. The piece will feature moving parts when it is completed, making the daisy and bluebells move and causing the watering can to tip. The Garden Walk project is an effort from the Sheraton Seattle to make the area more pedestrian friendly which includes other improvements like landscaping and canopies. This is the final step of a 7 year, $2.5 million project and a celebration will be held on July 21st. Please visit the Ginny Ruffner Urban Garden page for more information and details on the project.
